SUMMARY:AIAWS | Section Lunch
DESCRIPTION:The Role of Digital Technology in Placemaking\nwith Professor Deb Ryan\, PLA of UNC Charlotte and Richard Petersheim\, PLA of LandDesign \nHow should we consider the use of digital technology when creating an exceptional public realm? To consider that question\, LandDesign partnered with the University of North Carolina\, Charlotte School of Architecture in pursuit of insights and answers. After a research journey through naturally occurring gathering areas to highly manufactured spaces\, Shout Charlotte\, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Central London\, the town gown collaboration resulted in a toolkit designed to inform and guide the process of layering digital technology into placemaking. \nAbout our Speakers\nDeb Ryan\, PLA\nDeb Ryan has a 30-year history of assisting communities and their leaders with urban design\, historic preservation\, downtown revitalization and civic engagement\, and has advised city\, state\, and international organizations on creating vitality at cultural/historic sites and in urban places.
