Hello!
Over the last few years, AIA Winston-Salem has hosted and sponsored events funded in part by the grant program ACTIVATE by AIA NC. The goal of ACTIVATE is to help architects guide, listen, observe, advocate, connect, and envision with the public and their communities. Through these six exercises, the end goal is to inspire people to take action and shape the future of their communities around them. Each year, up to $40,000 is granted to support programs that encourage this engagement.
We believe everyone wants to be involved in the decisions that shape their lives.
Do you have an idea?
Anyone can apply for a grant, and the submissions will be reviewed by the leadership of one of the seven local Sections in North Carolina. The ACTIVATE webpage below has information regarding the timeline, local AIA Section contact information, and the link to the Call for Submissions Form & Checklist.

General Submission Timeline
- Early to Mid January – Call for Submission Opens
- Mid February – Deadlines for Submissions. All Submissions are due through the online form link below. (Submissions after 02/20 will not be considered.)
- Mid March – Executive Committee meets to evaluate
- Late March – Notification of Program Approval
