Alan Shelton from MIXXER and Lauren Frye from Community Design Studio will join us to talk about their Leadership by Design summer camps. Leadership by Design won our section’s ACTIVATE Award through AIA NC for this year.

AIA Winston-Salem’s EDI Director, Viselle Antonio, is heading to Kansas City, Missouri, for the annual AIA Women’s Leadership Summit, representing our Winston-Salem Section!We’re so excited to have Viselle join women from across the country for a few days of connection, learning, leadership, and inspiration—and to bring that energy back home to our local design community.A very special thank you to CJMW Architecture for their generous contribution toward sending Viselle to the Summit and supporting leadership opportunities within our Section. AIA WS kicked off Fall with a Section Lunch on AI + Architecture with guest speaker, Joe Parrish, of UpUpDownDown! Joe Parrish is the founder of upupdndn and creator of The Six Moves, amethod for making an organization’s judgment, direction, and operating logic clear enough for people and AI to use. Using practical examples, he explored what AI needs to understand beyond the drawing, including design intent, client context, standards, and professional judgment, and what firms must make explicit before AI can become useful across the practice.
